Stop the spread of superbugs: sign the petition.

The intensive misuse of antibiotics is breeding dangerous antibiotic-resistant bacteria, or "superbugs." Drug-resistant infections are estimated to cost Americans up to $26 billion per year in additional healthcare costs.

While human use of antibiotics draws more attention, experts believe the misuse of antibiotics on many factory farms also contributes to the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant infections. Animals are routinely fed antibiotics in low doses -- to help them endure crowded, dirty, and stressful conditions and grow faster -- breeding superbugs in the process.

These superbugs can't be knocked out with the usual medicines we rely on. Infections caused by these superbugs can require antibiotics with greater side-effects, and can lead to longer illnesses, more hospitalizations, and even death when basic treatments fail.

As consumers, we can move the meat industry to clean up its act. Join the fight to protect yourself and your family from superbugs.

Sign the petition and say: I want to protect myself and my family from superbugs. I want my meat produced with fewer antibiotics.
